Our Core Privacy Promise: ChatLedger is an on-device-first productivity utility. We do not sell, rent, monetize, or transmit your incoming messages, customer contacts, voice memos, invoices, or financial ledgers to any external server. Everything stays on your Android device under your direct control.

1 Information We Access & Why (Sensitive Permissions)

ChatLedger requires specific Android device permissions strictly to deliver core local functionality:

Android Notification Listener (`BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE`) Explicit Consent Required

Purpose: To detect incoming service inquiries from apps you explicitly allow (e.g., WhatsApp, LINE, SMS) and convert them into proposed on-device Job Cards.
Security Guards:

Notifications from non-allowlisted apps are immediately ignored and dropped.
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), OTPs, and password reset messages are automatically redacted and discarded.
No raw notification text is uploaded to any remote server or cloud service.

Audio Recording (`android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO`) Optional

Purpose: Allows you to record voice notes and field memo attachments to specific Job Cards. Audio files are saved exclusively to the app’s private internal storage directory.

Android Share Sheet Receiver (`android.intent.action.SEND`)

Purpose: Enables you to manually share text or customer messages into ChatLedger to generate a proposed Job Card without using notification listening.

2 Data Storage & Security Architecture

ChatLedger is engineered with a strict Zero-Cloud, On-Device-Only philosophy:

Encrypted Local Storage: All job records, client profiles, invoices, and quotes are persisted in SQLite on your device with encryption.
No Remote Tracking: We do not embed ad trackers, third-party analytics SDKs, or data brokers.
Manual Backup: Backups created through the app are encrypted and stored solely in locations you choose (e.g., local storage or your personal cloud storage).

3 Third-Party Services

ChatLedger does not share, transmit, or synchronize your private business data with third parties.

Firebase services associated with the project (chatledger-pro) are utilized for optional crash telemetry and build provisioning. They do not have access to any customer messages, voice recordings, or financial invoices.

4 Your Rights & Data Control (Erasure & Portability)

Because your data is stored exclusively on your device, you have complete control over it at all times:

Erase Data: You can purge all cached notifications, job cards, customer records, and ledger history at any time directly in the app settings.
Export Data: You can export your invoices, jobs, and financial summaries to PDF or CSV via the standard Android share mechanism.
Uninstall: Clearing the app data in Android settings or uninstalling the app permanently erases all local databases and recordings from the device.

5 Children’s Privacy

ChatLedger is intended for professional business operators, independent tradespeople, and contractors. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.
